Throughout the various communities in Newfoundland men and women suffering from physical and/or mental illness are accommodated in hospitals, smaller personal care homes or are cared for by relatives in their own homes.
Wherever the sick and elderly reside, Sisters of Mercy who are able continue their tradition of visitation to them at home or in an institution. Many of these sisters are elderly themselves, yet they share their time, their compassion and their prayer with these vulnerable men and women and families.
The Sisters who can no longer visit others devote themselves to a ministry of prayer for those who are sick or request prayer for various needs. They call to mind these requests that come to them directly or through other means such through our own website. They pray regularly as requested and for the world in general. We are grateful for this “power house” of prayer!
